Get Xubuntu
Xubuntu releases:
- 9.04, codename Jaunty Jackalope (newest stable release).
- 8.04.1, codename Hardy Heron, includes Long Term Support.
Minimum system requirements
You need 192 MB RAM to run the Live CD or 128 MB RAM to install. The Alternate Install CD only requires you to have 64 MB RAM at install time. To install Xubuntu, you need 1.5 GB of free space on your hard disk. Once installed, Xubuntu can run with starting from 192 (or even just 128) MB RAM, but it is strongly recommended to have at least 256 MB RAM.Xubuntu Mirrors (9.04 Jaunty Jackalope):

Please download Xubuntu from a mirror in a country close to you. Note: If you know how to use BitTorrent, the Torrent downloads are preferred.Upgrading
Please make sure to backup your data before attempting an upgrade.
If you are using Xubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" or newer, you can upgrade your system using the update manager.
- If you are running a Long Term Support release (e.g. 8.04) and want to upgrade to a normal release (e.g. 8.10), then you first need to make sure a new release is listed in the Update Manager. You can do so by opening Applications->System->Software Source, then, in the "Updates" tab, set "Show new distribution releases" to "Normal releases".

- Open Applications->System->Update Manager.

- Click the Check button to check for new updates.
- If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them, and press Check again after that is complete.
- A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release.

- Click Upgrade.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
